Functional coating of sulfide electrolytes for lithium solid-state batteries

The FUNCY-SSB project focuses on developing sustainable, high-performance solid-state electrolytes (SSE) to address a clear need in battery research and development. By employing a synergistic combination of sulfide electrolytes and polymer coatings, the project aims to enhance the electrochemical performance of SSEs.

The use of semantic technologies for digitalizing synthesis and manufacturing processes will improve interoperability and accelerate development. Additionally, recycling studies and analyses of economic and ecological potential will assess the recyclability and sustainability of the SSEs. A pouch cell prototype will demonstrate the functionality of the FUNCY-SSB electrolyte. These advancements will promote the use of solid-state Li-ion batteries in transportation and significantly impact the availability of components for future batteries.

FUNCY-SSB joins the Solid4B Cluster

We are excited to announce that FUNCY-SSB was accepted as the 16th partner of the Solid4B Cluster!
The Solid4B cluster addresses solid-state batteries with different types of solid electrolytes including sulfide- and polymer-based SSEs. In FUNCY-SSB, we work with a combination of these electrolytes by coating sulfides with inorganic materials and polymers. We hope to find synergies within Solid4B that accelerate the development of solid-state electrolytes.
