FUNCY-SSB at ESSC 2026
The FUNCY-SSB project was represented at the Energy Storage and Sustainable Circularity 2026 (ESSC 2026), held on 1–2 July 2026 at SUNUM Sabanci University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center Istanbul, Türkiye.
Abhishek Khairnar from EurA AG presented the contribution “Integrating Material Innovation and Circularity: An Early-Stage Life Cycle Assessment of Solid-State and Sodium-Ion Battery Pathways.” The presentation highlighted the application of early-stage life cycle assessment to emerging battery technologies, including solid-state battery materials investigated within FUNCY-SSB.
Within the FUNCY-SSB project, life cycle assessment is used to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of innovative solid-state battery materials and manufacturing processes at an early stage of development. This helps the project partners identify environmental hotspots, compare alternative process routes and integrate sustainability considerations into future material and process optimisation.
