The Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (ISC) is a leading European hub for materials-focused R&D across various sectors.

We drive advancements in innovative materials and technologies for sustainable products to enable customized solutions for clients. Current research areas include battery technology, digital transformation in materials science, high-temperature materials, PFAS-free alternatives, innovative recycling technologies and materials for the hydrogen economy and biomedicine. The Fraunhofer R&D Center Electromobility contributes to the development of sustainable battery technologies (materials, processes, cells and recycling), thereby supporting a more environmentally-friendly future. Within the FUNCY-SSB project, the Fraunhofer ISC contributes its expertise in the digitization of synthesis and processing procedures, and also develops innovative materials.

As the coordinator of the project, the institute takes a leading role in managing and networking project activities.
